Everyone probably has some kind of night routine. Mine has included a beverage in the last few years … and most recently my homemade sleepy-time tea. Simply add a couple of sprigs of fresh rosemary, a few slices of ginger and the juice from half a lemon to a large cup of hot water. Let it steep for about 15 minutes, and then sip it before bed or in bed! 🙂 Drinking warm water/tea before bed will
- Keep you hydrated through the night
- Help your body to rid itself of unwanted toxins
- activate your metabolism while you are sleeping
Rosemary is high in antioxidant, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory compounds and may lower blood sugar and improve your mood and memory.
Lemons are high in vitamin C, also an antioxidant that helps protect cells from damaging free radicals. It may reduce risk of cardiovascular disease and lower blood pressure, aids digestion and helps with weight loss. I actually seem to crave it’s tangy, acidic taste these days, that is way better than having a glass of wine.
Ginger helps with digestion, supports cardio vascular health and supports the immune system.
If the tea is too bitter, add a bit of honey.
Cheers and good night!
