Ok, now what is that? The buzz right now is biohacking, but the goal of both is essentially the same, ie. take control of your internal biology and stop the outside and the out-of-control from taking over.
I talked to Fred Bisci a few weeks ago about biological healing. He has been incredibly generous to my whole family for 5 years with his help, advice and knowledge sharing. Freddie caused my mother’s autoimmune symptoms to disappear within 4 weeks of changing her diet, and has truly touched our lives, how we think about illnesses and what we eat. So, I too want to share with you here.
He has lived on a 100% raw plant-based diet for over 55 years, and is a lifestyle/longevity coach, food scientist, detox/fasting expert and clinical nutritionist, who has successfully helped tens of thousands of people with degenerative illnesses and ailments. Fred believes that biological healing works by treating the body as whole (vs by illness) and by letting it heal itself. In order to accomplish this, he focuses on 4 pillars: lifestyle, spirituality, physical exercise and psychology. Only when we bring all those elements into balance will true healing start and be maintained.
During our conversation, three points were particularly interesting to me — all of which I need to remind myself of.
- NO CHEATING. Freddie’s dietary advice for Hashimoto’s is, eat clean, no cheating, fast some and take iodine. I told him, that I am basically diary, sugar and gluten free. His response was, that I am therefore not free at all! Even if you eat small amounts of inflammation-causing foods, the gases that are the byproducts of these foods, will put pressure in your cells, build up, and cause more inflammation and weakness. What they will definitely not do, is to reverse the process and to go into healing mode. So, really no cheating! He also shared a warning … if you manage to go 10, 20+ years without eating a basic food group such sugar or animal protein, your system will react violently when you reintroduce it, and cause your original illness to reappear or have created a new one.
- VITAMINS MEDICATE TOO. Vitamins just like medication cause biological reactions and can veil problems. So, don’t loose sight of your vitamins!
- BE MINDFUL OF YOUR THOUGHTS. Much research is being done today around epigenetic expression. Besides lifestyle, be careful of the thoughts you entertain, they could trigger a genetic pre-disposition. This is also where your belief system can come into play to help you find peace and mindfulness for a happier, healthier life.
I hope that you will take some of what Freddie has shared to heart. I will certainly, as I realize that my Hashimoto’s was a wake up call and will be a guide to my life-long journey to better health.
