For Christmas, my sister gave me probably the most valuable present I have ever gotten, the Oura ring — the most accurate health and sleep tracker on the market. The tracker is hidden in a sleek silver, gold or black ring, and the battery lasts about 3 days. It also integrates with Apple Health and builds on metrics, that app already provides.
I have always tended to go to bed too late — dare I say, between 1 and 2am, and know that this must throw off my circadian rhythm and not allow me to recover as much as I should. Funny, I have all these healthy routines, but can’t this right!! So, my ring is a reminder to go to bed earlier, plus I am motivated to see positive results in the morning! The Oura synchs over bluetooth in 15 seconds or so. Here is what greets me on a good day! 🙂
One measure, that I was not familiar with before is heart rate variability. It measured you heart’s ability to recover … and let me tell you, when I have had a glass or two of wine you can really see it dip, while your resting heart rate rises.

The ring is much more comfortable than the Fitbit, and does not bother me when I am sleeping. The company will send you a tape measure, so that you order the right size. If you are in between sizes, I would recommend going for the larger size … as your fingers will swell in the summer, and you don’t want a tight fit when you are sleeping.
I keep the ring on all day right now — as it also is a reminder to move in these sedentary London lock-down days, but you could only use it for sleeping too.
Check it out … the US website ships around the world. The ring is not cheap at $299 plus shipping, but I totally worth it, if it helps me get better and more sleep! 🙂 Your immune system will also be stronger for it.
